Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day
I recently discovered a book called “Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day”. It really does work and produces bread just as good as any other I’ve made using more labor-intensive methods. I highly recommend it. This version is the base recipe with 1/4 of the flour replaced with whole wheat.

Looks yummy. Is that a full size loaf?
It’s a 1 lb loaf, which is a little smaller than the ones I used to bake, which were 1.5 lb. The ones in the stores are probably more like 1.5 lb.
It is pretty tasty. Lisa and I both noticed a beer taste in it even though there isn’t any in it. We tried it before it was totally cooled though, and that’s when that flavor is strongest. This batch had some of the previous batch in it because I’m trying to turn it into sourdough and I read that someone else was able to do that just by saving some of the previous week’s dough. Maybe in the next couple weeks it’ll get more of a sour flavor.
